    No recordings yet

Recording conversations, lectures or performances may require consent from the other people or rights holders.

    FAQ

    FAQ

    Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?

No. Recordings live only in this tab's memory and disappear when you close it. If you turn on “Keep in this browser”, they're stored in this device's browser storage (IndexedDB). Nothing is ever sent to a server.

What's the difference between WAV and WebM?

WAV is uncompressed 16-bit audio that opens in any editor, but it's big (about 5 MB per minute). WebM (M4A in Safari) is the browser's original recording and much smaller. If both channels are identical, the WAV is saved as mono to halve the size.

I blocked the microphone. How do I turn it back on?

Click the lock icon (site settings) at the left of the address bar, set Microphone to Allow, then press the record button again. You can also pick a different mic in Mic settings.

Can I record conversations or lectures?

Laws differ by place, and many require consent from everyone being recorded. Ask the speaker or rights holder before recording a conversation, class or performance.
