FAQ
FAQ
Why can't I save as MP3?
The browser MP3 encoders available are under licenses that don't fit this site's policy, so the clip is saved as lossless WAV instead. If you need MP3, convert the WAV in your music player or audio editor.
Are my audio files uploaded?
No. Reading the file, drawing the waveform, cutting and saving all happen inside your browser. Your file is never sent anywhere.
Can I make a ringtone or notification sound?
Yes. Cut the part you want to around 30 seconds and add a 1–2 second fade out so it ends smoothly. The result is WAV, so some phones may need it converted before you can use it as a ringtone.
What quality and sample rate is the saved file?
It's a 16-bit PCM WAV at your browser's audio sample rate (usually 44.1 or 48 kHz, which may differ from the original). Very long files (over an hour) may not open if the browser runs out of memory.
