How to use

  1. Upload, drop or paste an image, or try one of the samples.
  2. In Pixel mode, set the block size and pick a palette. Turn on dithering for a retro look.
  3. In ASCII mode, pick a character set and width, and invert it for dark backgrounds.
  4. Save the result as a PNG, or copy the ASCII art as text.

Can I turn a photo into retro game style pixel art?

Yes. In Pixel mode, raise the block size and choose a palette like Retro handheld or PICO-8. Turning on dithering blends color edges with dots for an even more retro feel.

My copied ASCII art looks broken.

ASCII art only lines up in a monospaced font where every character has the same width. Paste it into a plain text editor, a code editor or a code block.

Is my photo uploaded?
