Why do blue and yellow make green? Isn't screen color mixed as light?
Averaging RGB values on screen would give you gray, but this game approximates how paint absorbs and reflects light across wavelengths (Kubelka-Munk theory). So, like real paint, blue + yellow makes green, red + white makes pink and red + blue makes a muddy purple. It's a simplified model, so real paints can differ.
How is the match score calculated?
The difference between the target and your mix is measured with the CIEDE2000 color difference (ΔE), losing 2% per 1 ΔE. A ΔE of 2.5 or less, which means 95% match or more, is hard to tell apart by eye, so it counts as a success.
How do stars work? Do hints cost me?
Finishing at or under PAR earns 3 stars, up to PAR + 2 drops earns 2, and more earns 1. Revealing which paints are used caps you at 2 stars, and revealing the ratio caps you at 1. You can replay cleared stages to improve your record.
Where is my progress saved?
Unlocked stages, best records and the sound setting are saved only in this browser (localStorage), never on a server. Clearing browser data or using another device or a private window starts you from the beginning.
